Cathy Lazar is an artist, educator, and entrepreneur based in Bergen County, New Jersey.

Upon graduating from Rhode Island School of Design, Cathy launched a career creating Kermits and Miss Piggy’s for The Muppets, irresistible costumed characters for TV Commercials and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and larger-than-life props for the likes of Claes Oldenburg, Bruce Springsteen, and Saturday Night Live.

Since 1990, Cathy has brought her love of color, texture, and pattern to mosaics, mixed media and most recently, quilting and fiber arts. She uses nostalgic imagery, vintage trinkets, tapestry fabrics, and embroidered trim with colored mirror and glass to fashion pieces full of drama, mystery, and surprise. From functional to fabulous, Cathy’s inspired craftsmanship has made her sought-after for classes, commissions, and community events.

Cathy has a lively studio in Northern New Jersey where she shares her vision with seasoned artists, hobbyists, and children, empowering them to create their own distinctive works of art.
